The Golden Rule
is based on the principle Jesus Christ taught in Matthew 7:12: "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them," adding, "for this is the Law and the Prophets." The significance of Jesus Christ's statement here is huge. What we call the Golden Rule is the summation of God's entire way of life.
Why? Because God's way is all about outgoing concern for others. That's why Jesus Christ later says of the two great commandments ("You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with your soul, and with all your mind" and "You shall love your neighbor as yourself") that, "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 22:37-40)

EVERY month tens of thousands of people file for federal bankruptcy protection, mostly to wipe out debts and start anew.
Many of these filers mistakenly think that it will be many years before they can obtain a mortgage or refinance an existing home loan, if they ever can — perhaps because notice of a bankruptcy filing typically stays on a credit report for 7 to 10 years. In reality, they could become eligible in as little as one year, as long as they work diligently to improve their financial picture.
Mortgages guaranteed by the Federal Housing Administration are permitted one year after a consumer exits a Chapter 13 bankruptcy reorganization, which requires a repayment plan that is often a fraction of what is owed, and two years after the more common Chapter 7 liquidation, which discharges most or all debts. Conventional mortgage guidelines from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, meanwhile, call for a wait of two to four years.
“There’s a lot of other things that go into your ability to get approved” for a mortgage after a bankruptcy, said John Walsh, the president of Total Mortgage, a direct lender based in Milford, Conn.
The most important point, he and other industry experts say, is that consumers re-establish their credit and show that they can manage it responsibly. They can do this by paying rent and utility bills on time, or perhaps by obtaining a secured credit card, according to Mr. Walsh.
If a bankruptcy filing was the result of a one-time occurrence, like the death of a spouse, divorce or illness, the waiting period to apply for a mortgage may be reduced. Lenders will often want borrowers to write a hardship letter explaining their situation, backed by documentation like hospital bills or a court-approved divorce settlement. If the person has paid back 85 to 95 percent of his debts during the bankruptcy process, he will need to mention that in the letter as well, said Bruce Feinstein, a bankruptcy lawyer in Richmond Hill, Queens.
But examples of shortening the waiting period through hardship letters are “few and far between, and tough to get,” Mr. Walsh said.
Mr. Feinstein says he has seen a few clients qualify for a mortgage only two years after filing for Chapter 7, though generally borrowers can obtain a loan quicker after a Chapter 13 reorganization, because of the partial repayment of debts, he said.
As Mr. Walsh noted, “Chapter 13 is a little more responsible” way to go from the lenders’ perspective, so lender guidelines are a bit more lenient.
Almost 70 percent of personal bankruptcies are filed under Chapter 7, according to the American Bankruptcy Institute, a research organization. The institute data noted that last year there were 1.362 million personal bankruptcy filings nationwide, down from 1.53 million in 2010, and closer to the norm over the last 15 years. At the end of the first quarter of this year there were 311,975 filings, which is 5 percent less than the first quarter of 2011.
Rebuilding credit after a personal bankruptcy will take some work. Mr. Feinstein suggests that individuals maintain or take out one or two credit cards and routinely use them. “If the payment’s due on the first, make sure it’s paid by the 25th” of the previous month, he said.
A personal bankruptcy filing will have a larger impact on a credit score than any other credit issue, according to a July report by VantageScore, which provides credit scores to lenders. Filing for bankruptcy protection will reduce a credit score by 200 to 350 or more points, it said, compared with a decline of 80 to 170 points for a foreclosure. VantageScore’s scores range from 501 to 990.
For the larger rival FICO, bankruptcy could cut a credit score by 130 to 240 points.

Thinking "Out of the Box" – a story “every situation has a solution”
Many hundreds of years ago in a small Italian town, a merchant had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to the moneylender. The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the merchant's beautiful daughter so he proposed a bargain. He said he would forgo the merchant' debt if he could marry the merchant's daughter. Both the merchant and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. The cunning money lender suggested that they let providence decide the matter.
The moneylender told them that he would put a black pebble (= small, round stone) and a white pebble into an empty bag. The girl would then have to pick one pebble from the bag. If she picked the black pebble, she would become the moneylender's wife and her father's debt would be forgiven. If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father's debt would still be forgiven. But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.
They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the merchant's garden. As they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick her pebble from the bag.
Now, imagine you were standing in the merchant's garden. What would you have done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you have told her? Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:
1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.
2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the moneylender as a cheat.
3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment.
Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral and logical thinking. The girl's dilemma cannot be solved with traditional logical thinking.
Think of the consequences if she chooses the logical answers.
What would you recommend the girl do?
The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.
"Oh, how clumsy of me," she said. "But never mind, if you look into the bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked."
Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the white one. And since the moneylender dared not admit his dishonesty,
the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an extremely advantageous one.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Most complex problems do have a solution, sometimes we have to think about them in a different way.

HOW TO "POWER PRAY"
WITH THE RESULTS COMING
A 3-step guide
By Dr. Christian, Ph.D., N.D., D.D., Pastor of GCG
Prepare to pray
(1) Take your Bible - Use a modern language Bible
The content and the biblical message is the same - only the language is based on today's English: (a) NLT = New Living Translation (published in the 2000's), or (b) The Book (= the title of this Bible - published in the 1980's- (a) and (b) both by Tyndale Publishing House), or (c) another recent one: New International Version (NIV) or (d) any other modern language Bible as your favorite.
Use a dedicated Bible for your studying and learning - a Bible copy that is only in your use. Then you can write notes on the pages and want to keep your notes private.
If English is your first language and you have a "dear" family Bible - King James (KJV) Version, you may use it; however, use also a second version aside, any of the modern English language Bibles because The KJ version Bible is based on the 1600's / 1700's English. English is spoken differently today than 300 - 400 years ago. If English is not your 1st language, you would not necessarily understand a KSV. When you use KJV and a modern language version compare their texts because the modern language Bible text often can make the meaning of The Bible even for a native English speaker easier to understand and to apply. Not applying is plain lip service or ear service and is not helpful for you. Read your Bible aloud as often you can - for any human it is then easier to comprehend. Reason: when additional senses are in use at the same time, it helps in your concentration and the brain will process and allow you to comprehend the meaning of the text effortlessly and with deeper clarity. This is called the "5-Sense Method"™ and was developed by Dr. Christian, Pastor of GCG, in the early 1990's for the then new super-learning techniques and is now in a worldwide use. In a public place read study your Bible by silently forming the text.
If English is not your first language, use anyway a modern English language Bible (not your native language Bible except, perhaps only for comparing the translations) - you then learn modern English for everyday use and thus you benefit more and for many other purposes. Study always the new words from your dictionary or using an internet English language dictionary (= put the new word on "search" plus ask for its "definition". Create a file in your computer and easily transfer the meaning for further studying..
(2) Study (by reading aloud) in The Bible the following passages
(important: in this following order)
(1) John 14: 1 and John 14: 11-14
(2) Mark 11: 22 - 25 + 26 (Verse 26 is not in every Bible but is important = it is the same as in Matthew 6:15
Study it from Matthew 6:15 if your Bible is lacking it)
(3) John 15: 7
(4) John 15: 16 (the last full sentence, only) and the verse 17
(5) James 1: 2 - 6
(6) Romans 8: 31 - 32
(7) Jeremiah
(3) PRAY "IN THE NAME OF LORD JESUS CHRIST"
(1) Say first: "God, in the name of Lord Jesus Christ I am praying this prayer"
(2) Then: "say what you are praying for - describe in all details
(3) AND: believe it to happen without any doubt",
(4) At the end you say "Thank you, God - for your miracles, in the Name of Lord Jesus
Christ I am asking you to hear my prayer. In the name of Lord Jesus Christ, Amen."
_____
YOUR PRAYERS WILL ALWAYS BE ANSWERED when it is to your own real best
and is not hurting anyone else.
*) "Amen" actually means "So be it"
The Greek Old Testament usually translates it as "so be it"; in the English Bible it is often translated as "verily" or "truly." As regards the etymology, Amen is a derivative from the Hebrew verb "aman" = "to strengthen" or "Confirm".
Please remember: God is NOT you "wish fountain" - your prayer content must not be hurting
anyone - God knows best what you need. When your prayer is for your own best, God will grant
it. On the other hand, none of us always knows what is best for us.

Sometimes A Stormy Voyage Called Life
Life is a lot like an ocean voyage. We all have a journey ahead of us as we enter this world, but the journey called "Life" is different for everyone. When all is said and done, the twists and turns of your life are intimately tied to the actions you take and decisions you make. In a sense, we each get to choose the kind of journey we take. And we all have storms to endure that test our skills and threaten to sink our ships. Some of you find that your ships capsize easily during emotional storms. Others find a way to stay on board and keep their boats afloat no matter what challenges the seas of life present. It’s true that some seem to encounter more storms than others, but none of us can escape these storms entirely.
Sometimes these storms are predicted and you have time to prepare. For example, when you’ve been given notice that your job will be eliminated. However, other times these storms arise suddenly, like with accidents and illness. Nevertheless, the key to surviving these storms and maintaining your bearings is to keep a level head. Regardless of how often you find yourself in one of these battles, how you respond will determine the extent of the damage you incur. So the next time you feel the choppy waters of life churning, hunker down and persevere! These are more than just mere storms; they are also opportunities for you to gather strength, hone your battle skills and create character!
You can be a good captain of your ship

God will give you peace Where do you find peace?
"A child is born to us, a son is given to us. And the government will rest on his shoulders. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His ever expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule forever with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David. The passionate commitment of the Lord Almighty will guarantee this!" - Isaiah 9:6-7 NLT
"You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!" - Isaiah 26:3 NLT
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give you isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid.- John 14:27 NLT
Peace is a person "His peace of mind came not from building on the future but from resting in what he called "the holy Present." C.S. Lewis on George Macdonald*)
If you were navigating in strange waters or tracking through the wilderness, you would feel at peace with a competent navigator. As we move through spiritual territory that's frightening, new to us, or full of trouble, what a comfort and support to have the Lord God, creator of peace, walking with us. He knows the way!
*) George MacDonald (10 December 1824 – 18 September 1905) was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. Known particularly for his poignant fairy tales and fantasy novels, George MacDonald inspired many authors, such as W. H. Auden, J. R. R. Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings), C. S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia), E. Nesbit and Madeleine L'Engle. It was C.S. Lewis who wrote that he regarded MacDonald as his "master": "Picking up a copy of Phantastes one day at a train-station bookstall, I began to read. A few hours later," said Lewis, "I knew that I had crossed a great frontier." G. K. Chesterton cited The Princess and the Goblin as a book that had "made a difference to my whole existence."Elizabeth Yates wrote of Sir Gibbie, "It moved me the way books did when, as a child, the great gates of literature began to open and first encounters with noble thoughts and utterances were unspeakably thrilling."[1]Even Mark Twain, who initially disliked MacDonald, became friends with him, and there is some evidence that Twain was influenced by MacDonald. _________________________________________________________

Once, when the people of God had become careless in their relationship with Him, the Lord rebuked them through the prophet Haggai.
\"Consider your ways!"
(Haggai 1:5)
he declared, urging them to reflect on some of the things happening to them, and to evaluate their slipshod spirituality in light of what God had told them.
Even those most faithful to God occasionally need to pause and think about the direction of their lives. It's so easy to bump along from one busy week to another

The value of many of these questions is not in their profundity, but in the simple fact that they bring an issue or commitment into focus.
For example, just by articulating which person you most want to encourage this year is more likely to help you remember to encourage that person than if you hadn't considered the question.
If you've found these questions helpful, you might want to put them someplace—in a day planner, PDA, calendar, bulletin board, etc.—where you can review them more frequently than once a year.
So let's evaluate our lives, make plans and goals, and live this new year with biblical diligence, remembering that,
"The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage"
(Proverbs 21:5).
But in all things let's also remember our dependence on our King who said,
"Apart from Me you can do nothing"
(John 15:5).

10 + 21 = 31 Questions to Ask at the Start of a New Year
Once, when the people of God had become careless in their relationship with Him, the Lord rebuked them through the prophet Haggai.
"Consider your ways!" (Haggai 1:5)
Haggai declared "consider your ways", urging them to reflect on some of the things happening to them, and to evaluate their slipshod spirituality in light of what God had told them. Even those most faithful to God occasionally need to pause and think about the direction of their lives. It's so easy to bump along from one busy week to another without ever stopping to ponder where we're going and where we should be going.
The beginning of a new year is an ideal time to stop, look up, and get our bearings. To that end, here are some questions to ask prayerfully in the presence of God.
The value of many of these questions is not in their profundity, but in the simple fact that they bring an issue or commitment into focus.
1. What's one thing you could do this year to increase your enjoyment of God?
2. What's the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year?
3. What's the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your family life this year?
4. In which spiritual discipline do you most want to make progress this year, and what will you do about it?
5. What is the single biggest time-waster in your life, and what will you do about it this year?
6. What is the most helpful new way you could strengthen your church?
7. For whose salvation will you pray most fervently this year?
8. What's the most important way you will, by God's grace, try to make this year different from last year?
9. What one thing could you do to improve your prayer life this year?
10. What single thing that you plan to do this year will matter most in ten years? In eternity?
In addition to these ten questions, here are twenty-one more to help you "Consider your ways." Think on the entire list at one sitting, or answer one question each day for a month.
11. What's the most important decision you need to make this year?
12. What area of your life most needs simplifying, and what's one way you could simplify in that area?
13. What's the most important need you feel burdened to meet this year?
14. What habit would you most like to establish this year?
15. Who is the person you most want to encourage this year?
16. What is your most important financial goal this year, and what is the most important step you can take toward achieving it?
17. What's the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your work life this year?
18. What's one new way you could be a blessing to your pastor (or to another who ministers to you) this year?
19. What's one thing you could do this year to enrich the spiritual legacy you will leave to your children and grandchildren?
20. What book, in addition to the Bible, do you most want to read this year?
21. What one thing do you most regret about last year, and what will you do about it this year?
22. What single blessing from God do you want to seek most earnestly this year?
23. In what area of your life do you most need growth, and what will you do about it this year?
24. What's the most important trip you want to take this year?
25. What skill do you most want to learn or improve this year?
26. To what need or ministry will you try to give an unprecedented amount this year?
27. What's the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your commute this year?
28. What one biblical doctrine do you most want to understand better this year, and what will you do about it?
29. If those who know you best gave you one piece of advice, what would they say? Would they be right? What will you do about it?
30. What's the most important new item you want to buy this year?
31. In what area of your life do you most need change, and what will you do about it this year?
The value of many of these questions is not in their profundity, but in the simple fact that they bring an issue or commitment into focus.
